MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING · UBC ’26

I build systems
that make ideas
work in the real world.

From embedded sensing and process control to CNC manufacturing, I like turning complex engineering problems into systems you can test, understand, and improve.

05 / INSTRUMENTATION

Precision weight scale

Designed and built an analog signal-conditioning chain for a strain gauge, verified the instrumentation-amplifier gain in Simulink, then calibrated a MATLAB data-acquisition readout at 0 kg and 2 kg.

02 / EXPERIENCE

Where I’ve
put it to work.

Engineering work across energy,
product development, and student teams.

SEP—DEC 2024 VANCOUVER, BC

Systems Engineering Intern · Creative Energy

  • Built a DeltaV process simulator and a four-level operator HMI for a district-energy system.
  • Supported PID tuning and closed-loop validation; simulation surfaced a pump recirculation issue before commissioning.

Product Development Intern · Amomii

  • Programmed and documented Arduino modules, improving deployment scalability by 25%.
  • Used English and Mandarin to coordinate project reviews and turn stakeholder feedback into integration priorities.
MAY—AUG 2023 VANCOUVER, BC

District Energy Engineering Intern · Onni Group

  • Evaluated renewable and low-carbon district-energy and HVAC concepts for building design.
  • Coordinated mechanical requirements with developers, contractors, and consultants and supported performance validation.
JAN—SEP 2023 VANCOUVER, BC

Mechanical Team Member · UBC Sustaingineering

  • Contributed to a five-person team building a small-scale wind turbine for energy-accessibility work.
  • Modeled structural components—including ribs, base, and shaft—in SOLIDWORKS.

03 / ABOUT & TOOLKIT

A manufacturing
engineer with a
systems mindset.

I’m Suanne Sparrow, a Manufacturing Engineering graduate from the University of British Columbia. My projects sit where hardware, software, and real-world constraints meet.

I’ve worked on embedded sensor systems, process simulation, operator interfaces, product development, and manufacturing process design. I enjoy moving between the detailed work—drivers, control logic, fixtures—and the bigger picture of how a system performs.
